Job Description Job Description Job Title: Shipfitter/Stick Welder - Newport News, VA $45/hour & $140 in per diem This position is located in Newport News, Virginia Responsibilities: This position is located in Newport News, Virginia Perform multi-pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process. Operate burning and heating equipment, specifically oxygen/propane burning torches. Interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines. Comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler and lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly. Assemble structural piece parts according to specifications with high-quality standards. Work effectively in physically demanding environments such as shipbuilding or steel fabrication. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry. Utilize vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
