Job Description:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the installation
process and management of landscape, irrigation, and hardscape
projects and teams involved. He/She takes the plan and necessary
materials to the customer site and executes the plan in a safe,
effective and efficient manner. All work must meet Pebble Creek
quality standards. They are responsible for the overall execution
of all landscaping jobs.
--- Direct activities on the job site, including but not limited
to, coordinating workflow, hands-on work, and operating a variety
of machinery
--- Manage personnel effectively and efficiently
--- Monitor all tools, equipment, and machinery for needed
maintenance
--- Track and record all job expenses, including but not exclusive
materials and hours worked
--- Clear communication with office daily to ensure clients are up
to date on job progression
--- Other duties as assigned
--- Ensures all crew members utilize all required personal
protective equipment
--- Ensures all installation work is performed in accordance with
industry and company standards
--- Ensures that all equipment safety and maintenance procedures
are followed
--- Interacts with clientele in order to help ensure job
satisfaction
--- Supervises all crew members during the performance of all
assigned work
--- Leads by example
--- Reports for duty at designated location on time each day
--- Communicates well with all crew members, supervisors, and
clientele
--- Strives to improve job skills and develop the potential for
upward mobility
--- Maintain a clean and safe job site
Training & Development:
This position requires the following certifications to develop as a
Pebble Creek manager and leader and as a skilled landscape
professional:
--- Wall Block Certification
--- CDL Certification
--- Soil and Erosion Certification
--- Silt Fence
--- Paver Installation
--- Woody Plant Identification
--- Landscape Design Certification
Responsibilities:
--- Develop the most efficient organizational structure that
provides for 35% annual growth
--- Ensure all performance reviews are completed by supervisors
--- Develop incentives for landscape staff to reinforce completion
of projects on time, inventory control, proper truck, and equipment
maintenance
--- Go to scheduled appointments to obtain new business
--- Need sales of $35,000 per week minimum
--- Need 3 new leads per week
--- Develop ability to report proper information for job costing,
receipts, man hours, fuel, materials, etc.
--- Walk completed project with supervisor to ensure all tasks are
completed as designed
--- Walk finished project with customer to ensure they are
delighted
--- Correct any deficiencies and repeat inspection with
customer
--- Ask customer for referrals generate new clients and new
projects for Pebble Creek
--- Handle all customer complaints. Can we improve? Action plans to
implement improvements
--- Go to new clients for estimates, turn into Purchasing Manager
within 24 hours of meeting client
--- Follow up with supervisor to maintain Pebble Creek vehicles to
DOT compliance (physicals, documentation, inspections)
--- Ensure all vehicles and trailers are neat, clean, orderly and
reflect positively on Pebble Creek
--- Monitor fuel reports and material usage versus quote, control
costs
--- Ensure we have sufficient equipment to reach growth
objectives
--- Do all crews have what they need?
--- Implement LEAN, 5-S process in shop and trucks
--- Work with maintenance repair technician to keep all equipment
fully operational
--- Preventative maintenance plan in place and functioning
effectively
--- Review equipment repair log to identify replacement needs
--- Manage compensation, stay competitive in area
--- Celebrate success, hold some kind of event at least
quarterly
--- Address all employee issues with crews directly or through
supervisors
--- Interview, hire, and fire new landscape crew members
--- Create a training procedure for new hires, one that shows them
the Pebble Creek way
--- Ensure Employee Handbook is being enforced at all times
--- Ensure attendance point system is running effectively
--- Have a process in place to cover for absenteeism and
turnover
--- Hold daily meetings with office to ensure entire department is
aware of goals, successes, problems, and overall performance
--- Keep tracking system in place to measure results
--- Participate in mini-morning meetings for job/tasks of the day.
Conduct Friday afternoon meeting with entire team to review
performance for the week
--- Celebrate and recognize great performance
--- Submit inventory of plant materials used on projects to compare
with original estimate for invoicing
--- Ensure landscaping forms/work orders are properly completed and
submitted to the office for invoicing/customer files on daily
basis
--- Maintain detailed notes for each property throughout project to
facilitate communication between customer and office
--- Provide daily status updates on all projects through
completion
--- Work with office staff to ensure all customers are invoiced
within 24 hours (1 business day) of completion
Qualifications:
--- 1+ (3+ years preferred) experience
--- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
--- Commercial Driver's License (preferred) and reputable driving
record
--- Proficient heavy equipment operating skills including front-end
loaders, mini-excavators, and skid steer machinery with various
attachments; other construction equipment as needed
--- Knowledge and experience in installing a variety of hardscape
applications
--- Knowledge of perennials, shrubs, evergreens, and trees;
identification and cultural requirements
--- Highly motivated, self-driven individual who is
detail-oriented
--- Excellent attention to detail while working in fun and
fast-paced environment
--- Verbal and written communication skills
--- Good time management skills; be available for long hours all
year round
--- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
--- Able to work effectively with individuals of differing
knowledge and background (i.e. clientele, contractors,
subcontractors, vendors, and other designers)
--- Clean and professional appearance
--- Punctual and dependable
