Leapfrog Group. Position Summary: Reporting to the Practice
Manager, the Medical Assistant position is responsible for
performing a wide variety of patient care duties and assisting with
the overall workflow of the physician/medical practice. JOB
- Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering
multi-phone lines and making copies of documents as necessary.
- Accurately file patient charts; including scanning documents
into files as necessary.
- Ensures that patient rooms are kept stocked and clean; also
ensures that equipment is kept clean.
- Confirms and schedules patient appointments.
- Maintains organized filing system for all office/billing
- Distributes referrals as necessary to physicians and insurance
companies; keep proper documentation of referral requests/responses
in patient charts.
- Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI,
Ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
- Phone/faxing patient prescriptions as necessary.
- Schedules mammograms, BMDs dietician appointments, cardiology
testing, and radiology testing for patients, and completes all
- Labels patient specimens and completes lab slips accurately;
separates lab slips monthly.
- Contacts patients with lab results and sends letters to
patients as necessary.
- Accurately performs clinical duties to include triaging
patients, checking patient vitals, administering injections and
venipunctures, and prepping patients for physician exam.
- Accurately performs a variety of clinical testing, including
ekg, holter monitors, PFT, stress test, PAP, ear irrigations, 02
sats, vision/color charts, and urinalysis/hemocult tests.
- Thoroughly and accurately complete patient information forms
prior to physician meeting with patient; assist physician with
chart as necessary. Independence Physician Management (IPM), a
subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services
unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician
networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care
facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral
Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in

Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel
High School Diploma or equivalent
requiredMedical Assistant certificate required, or must obtain
certification within six (6) months of employmentCurrent BLS/CPR
certification required Work experience:
Medical Assistant Certificate of
Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant
Familiarity with medical terminology requiredExperience with
