Job Description:
Job Summary:As a Physician in an affiliated medical practice,
provides medical services to patients in an assigned area.
Job Description:
$40,000 Retention Bonus for .80 FTE and above
MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, Maine is seeking
Hospitalists who are interested in working 10 to 14 night shifts
per month.
Hospitalists provide comprehensive internal medicine care in the
hospital, managing both common and complex illnesses of
adolescents, adults, and the elderly admitted to the hospital
because of a variety of illnesses and injuries. Hospitalists
participate in the leadership and development of the Hospitalist
practices and facilitate transition of care at discharge from the
hospital by communicating a summary of the hospital course,
discharge medications, pending diagnostic studies, and follow-up
instructions to the primary care provider and pertinent
consultants.
Hospitalists assume responsibility for comprehensive patient care
to assure that the health care needs of patients are being met,
including attendance at Interdisciplinary or nursing rounds and
daily communication with the team caring for the patient; render
quality medical services according to qualifications as an internal
medicine or family practice physician with appropriate referrals,
follow-up and hospitalization; support hospital medical staff and
other area physicians utilizing the Hospitalist service by
overseeing the inpatient experience, including providing follow-up
care for patients in the outpatient realm; communicate health
status and treatment plan to patient, family and hospital staff;
document information completely for patient care and billing
purposes; assist in the review of work flow, office practices and
objectives; and train medical students, residents and others in
graduate health education programs.
Work 10 to 14 night shifts per month with flexible scheduling.
Qualified candidates must have a M.D. or D.O.; State of Maine
Medical License; Board certification or eligibility in Internal
Medicine or Family Medicine; and residency experience in hospital
medicine, including care for medical/surgical and critical care
adult patients.
