Experience with telemetry and cardiac patients Description: Minimum
experience required is 1 year. First-time travelers are accepted.
Patient population includes adults to geriatrics. Candidates must
demonstrate competency in managing post-myocardial infarction
patients, heart failure, arrhythmias, chest pain, and peripheral
vascular disease. Experience with peritoneal dialysis, telemetry,
EKG, and Doppler is essential. The patient-nurse ratio is 1:5. The
unit consists of 16 beds with an average daily census of 16
patients. Candidates should be familiar with Epic charting system
and other unit systems. Scrub color is navy blue. Maximum of 7 days
of requested time off is allowed. Candidates are expected to work 6
weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period. Floating to other
Cardiac Telemetry Units or other units as needed is required. There
are no on-call requirements for this position. If one major holiday
falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to
work it. If two major holidays occur during the assignment, the
traveler is expected to work both. If three major holidays occur,
the traveler is expected to work two of them. Compliance is
required to start on time, with full compliance needed. Candidates
will undergo a clinical review to determine fit before final
decision is made. Previous charge experience is preferred.
Candidates must show expertise in various clinical skills,
including cardiac telemetry and management of dysrhythmias.
Specific procedures and equipment expected to be handled include
hemodialysis management, procedural sedation administration, and
care for various medical devices. Interdisciplinary support is
available in the unit, including IV teams and respiratory services.
Patients may present with a range of diagnoses, including post-MI
and heart failure. Flexibility to work other shifts and locations
may be necessary. No holiday time off requests can be made for
