Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 01/26/2026 Duration: 16 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Job Details: • 36 or 48 hour guaranteed shifts per week • 1 year minimum experience required, first-time travelers accepted • Patient ratio of 1:4-5 (note: high staffing ratio unit) • Mixed MS/Tele and intermediate care patients including neuro, respiratory, cardiac, and medical patients • Assignments may include all PCU, all MS/Tele, or mixed depending on patient acuity and staffing • Required to titrate cardiac drips and provide telemetry monitoring • Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH • Must work every other weekend unless otherwise specified • Floating required within facility/scope of practice as needed • No call requirements • Holiday work required based on assignment period (1-2 holidays: work all; 3 holidays: work 2) • Navy blue scrubs required • Maximum 7 days RTO allowed • Unit systems include Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR • Skills include blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tube management, CVA care, CPAP/BIPAP, feeding tube management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, dysrhythmia management, and vasoactive drip titration • Full compliance required to start on time with 2-week pushback for non-compliance • Orientation hours determined by contract length Facility: This healthcare facility operates a 36-bed progressive care unit that serves as an intermediate care stepdown unit with a mixed population of medical/surgical and stroke patients. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, rapid response teams, and transportation services. The organization maintains high standards for patient care while managing a daily census of approximately 30 patients with complex medical needs requiring specialized monitoring and intervention.
