Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care preferred License: RN License Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (within 180 days) TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course (within 18 months) ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 180 days) Must-Have: Ability to read, write, and speak English. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management skills. Strong critical thinking skills. Description: The RN Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The RN practices in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and other leaders. This role is governed through a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice. RN competencies are derived from this model and supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses in Emergency Services must be licensed and knowledgeable. They uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. The RN implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the RN supports service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities: Performs the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care that adapts to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. Partners with patients and significant others to set and achieve goals in care plans. Practices using current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. Promotes respectful and inclusive communication methods among interdisciplinary teams. Participates in performance improvement initiatives to promote safe, quality patient care. Professional Development: Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promotes evidence-based practice and participates in research and performance improvement activities. Upholds all policies, procedures, and clinical competencies per the job description and professional association. Resources and Support: Plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care. Participates in the development of protocols to achieve optimal patient care outcomes. Supports the effective use of resources in the clinical environment.
