Must-Have: - Experience with a patient ratio of 5-6 - Ability to
float to other medical/surgical units as needed - Skills in
telemetry, starting and maintaining IVs, PCA, orthopaedic trauma,
oxygen administration, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube
care, blood product administration, peripheral line care, surgical
drains, nasal cannula, isolation precautions/PPE Description:
Position for a registered nurse specializing in medical surgical
care. The role involves working with a patient population that
includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census includes
surgical patients with conditions such as hips, ankles, and knees,
along with medical issues including GI problems, pneumonia,
diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, flu, and COVID. Staffing
ratios are 1:6. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
The unit is supported by interdisciplinary teams including IV
teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation
services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response
teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries. Special
equipment includes ceiling lifts in every room. Candidates will be
expected to complete non-billable modules prior to starting.
