Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty:
Progressive Care Unit Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per
Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid nursing
license Certifications: BLS and ACLS Must-Have: Experience with
telemetry and management of dysrhythmias Description: Minimum
experience required is 2 years. First-timers are accepted. The
patient population includes adults to geriatrics. The unit admits
patients from intensive care units and emergency departments.
Common patient diagnoses include post-operative care for CABG,
thoracic surgeries, vascular surgeries, respiratory failure,
cardiac arrhythmias, DKA, GI bleed, trauma, CVA, seizures,
metabolic disorders, renal failure, hypertensive emergencies,
sepsis, and neuro disorders. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4.
The unit has a total of 32 beds with an average daily census of 21
patients. The working environment includes interdisciplinary
support from various health professionals such as IV teams,
physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Specific
equipment used in the unit includes BiPap and CPAP machines.
Holidays worked include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. Travelers are expected to
work major holidays unless prior requests are approved. 5 Benefits
