Nuclear Medicine Tech Location: Augusta, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,575 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist Profession: Nuclear Medicine Technician Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 year NM experience or minimum 1 year experience in a clinical setting caring for patients (may include clinical rotations) License: ARRT-N - ARRT Nuclear Technology or CNMT - Cert Nuclear Med Tech Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor Must-Have: Excellent communication skills Ability to function independently and under pressure Strong customer service skills Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively Description: The Nuclear Medicine technologist assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams per department protocols. The technologist has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. They are responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in utilizing the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The technologist can independently perform job functions. They set up the equipment to provide imaging services and position patients for procedures. Key responsibilities include verifying proper clinician orders for procedures. Obtaining complete clinical history, gathering examination data, and assessing for contraindicating conditions. Following established procedures for administering radiopharmaceuticals. Ensuring all studies have proper patient identification and utilize right and left markers appropriately. Reviewing images for clinically acceptable results and releasing patients. Responding to emergency situations and restocking the crash cart and maintaining life support equipment. Assisting other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observing patient condition and properly evaluating situations when physician intervention is necessary. Verifying patient identity using two unique identifiers prior to performing procedures. Ensuring patient privacy and comfort are accommodated and maintaining dignity throughout exams. Demonstrating competence in determining and applying appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based on patient age. Organizing schedules and prioritizing activities to accomplish required tasks within designated time frames. Following physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams. Using critical thinking skills and engaging with patients and families effectively. Ensuring documentation is concise, legible, and includes precise terminology. Consistently producing acceptable images as evidenced by feedback and audits. Reporting problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to supervisors or service providers. Cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining equipment per infection control policies. Patiently and clearly explaining the purpose and nature of exams to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation. Addressing patient questions, concerns, or contraindications satisfactorily. Participating in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Restocking linens and supplies, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the department. Transporting patients and assisting them on and off procedure tables. Performing patient charging activities on the day services are rendered. Applying supportive and immobilization devices as needed. Maintaining individual productivity rates that match co-workers. Keeping supervisors informed of responsibilities and notifying of any problems promptly. Demonstrating willingness to assist others and performing support personnel responsibilities as needed. Maintaining compliance with all policies, protocols, and professional standards. Taking call when necessary. Performing other duties as assigned.
