Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/23/2026 - Duration: 12 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Mar 23, 2026 - Length: 12 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel Charge RN for a Med/Surg unit, requiring charge experience and Epic proficiency, working nights on a 12-week contract. Details - Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting serving an adult to geriatric patient population - Patient diagnoses include the full range of Med/Surg conditions - Required clinical skills include: Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac, Nasal Cannula, High Flow Nasal Cannula, Chest Tubes, IV Starts, PICC Line Management, Blood Product Administration, and Feeding Tube Care and Management - Patient ratio is 1:6 on a 32-bed unit with an average daily census of 29 - EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR - Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00 - Every other weekend required - Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed - No on-call requirements Requirements - Active GA or Compact RN license required - Current BLS certification required - Minimum 1 year of RN experience required - Charge nurse experience required - Epic EMR experience required Additional Information - This is a Charge RN role — charge responsibilities are expected each shift - Navy blue scrubs required - Local candidates are accepted - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Candidates must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler - RTO maximum is 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment - RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12) - Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work 2 of them and may request 1 holiday off for approval - Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day - No schedule change requests or alternate shift arrangements are permitted — the posted shift is firm - Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred American Traveler Job ID P-678809.
