Job Description:

REPORTS TO: Technical Services Manager PURPOSE OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, manages and resolves customer issues including: warranty and quality investigations, pump application issues, site support for installation, equipment startup, pump maintenance and operational training, returned goods (RG) problems, and ROGIS system. In addition, acts as a liaison for the Customer with other departments for technical/warranty issues. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SELF-PERFORMED: Provides positive customer support with issues that involve new and/or remanufactured equipment / parts. This support includes: warranty consideration, quality issues, application and technical questions, etc. Handles GIW product-related issues on products that has been received by the customer, i.e. pump assemblies, wet end / conversions, mechanical ends, stuffing box assemblies, cartridge bearing assemblies, vibration, oils, seals, etc. Provides system problem analysis on issues that are typical of a solids handling centrifugal pump. Provides telephone service responses to customers by communicating verbally and transferring electronic documents when required to clarify issues. Travels to job site to assist customer with service problems as requested by customers. Travel could be domestic or international dependent on the complexity of the situation expected to be encountered. Would be under the supervision of a TSE III or the TSG Manager. Handles all purchased products issues on customer's receipt of motors, variable frequency drives, gear boxes, V-belt drives, mechanical seals, and etc. Supervises repair of GIW products at Customer's site and at GIW rebuild facility. Provides factual trip reports on customer issues that can be distributed to GIW departments and the customer as needed. AUTHORITY: Has authority as delegated by the Technical Services Manager. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE EDUCATION: Engineering degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of two and a half (2-1/2) years of previous experience in a related field. EXPERIENCE: Experienced in the application of Microsoft software (MS Access, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint). Good communications skills are required. Must be a self starter and must be able to work independently. The qualified candidate should be capable of reading and understanding drawings and layouts. A good technical writing ability is required for report writing. Plant engineering experience, vibration analysis experience, predictive maintenance experience, or equipment installation experience is a plus but is not required. Knowledge of pumps, systems and drive equipment (Motors gear reducers, V-belts, etc.) including assembly, installation, alignment, and operation would also be a plus.GIW Industries, Inc.
