Contract - 12 months

Your Day-to-Day:

Job Overview:

The ASME Field Engineer will report to the ASME Control Center Supervisor and should be able to perform assigned work and take direction and guidance from the Supervisor or more senior personnel. This position is an important key in ensuring ASME Section III Code compliance. ASME Field Engineers help plan, direct, and execute work for all engineering disciplines in the field to support construction projects. As required, they interface and coordinate activities with home office engineering, field construction supervision, and field subcontractors. Additionally, they may support Field Procurement, System Turnover, and Commissioning. As Construction Field Engineers progress through field engineering career path, they will increase their knowledge in all construction field engineering operations and related disciplines. Additionally, employees are required to have general knowledge of construction processes along with a specific field engineering discipline.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Implement ASME field engineering activities in support of the company

ASME Ill quality program

  • Direct field engineering activities within the scope of the ASME III Code
  • Integrate design engineering, field engineering, QA/QC, document control, procurement / materials management, welding technology, and field construction in performance of site ASME III work
  • Interface with the site Authorized Nuclear Inspector for completion of third-party oversight responsibilities
  • Implement field engineering responsibilities established in interface agreements with the project N Certificate holder(s), and any involved NA, NPT, and NS Certificate holders
  • Represent field engineering In ASME Surveys for site extension of certifications
  • Develop control travelers and drawings or sketches (work packages) for ASME code construction
  • Process ASMErelated design changes and construction revision notices in support of field construction
  • Process stress reconciliation and as-built drawings for design engineering stress reconciliation of ASME code systems
  • Assist in supervision and training of the site field engineering staff in application of ASME program requirements
  • Track site completion of ASME Code work and documentation
  • Participate with QA/QC in development of ASME Code certification

packages

  • Support ASME quality program audits
  • Serve as a technical resource for resolution of ASME Code Issues
  • Maintain technical interface with corporate Construction Technical

Services for ASME III program implementation and develop construction

procedures and instructions required for field implementation of work in

accordance with corporate quality programs

Basic Qualifications:

The preferred candidate must have good organizational skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills, must be comfortable interacting with others, and shall able to work with MS Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and PowerPoint. The candidate will prepare/help In report preparation, cost estimation etc.; proactively identify potential problems in the field ; develop alternatives; arrive at optimum solution, means to mitigate problems: prepare presentations; make presentation to management/clients; work with construction QC to resolve any outstanding issue; recommend best practices.

A Bachelor's degree in mechanical, nuclear, or equivalent engineering discipline is required. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, 5 years of relevant experience will be considered.

This position requires a field assignment for extended period of time ; work is performed In outside field environment, frequent walking & climbing required; may have to lift and carry small loads (<20 lbs.), must be able to hear and see within industry standard requirements.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

Previous mechanical, piping, and welding program experience on nuclear power projects,

engineering and/or construction activities on major construction projects, demonstrated knowledge or course work in ASME III and/ or ASME XI code programs.
