Job Description:
Overview
The UHCP Scheduling Coordinator Lead will be responsible for
overseeing the activities of personnel in the Shared Resource
department to include training and education for current staff and
new hires. Responsible for overseeing the activities of personnel
in the Shared Resource department to include training and education
for current staff and new hires. Utilizes Epic reporting
applications to run volume and financial reports. Must keep abreast
of scheduled workload at all times and be able to set priorities.
Accountability is measured through performance appraisals, quality
of work, productivity, direct observation, internal and external
customer feedback and peer review. Responsible for processing
pre-authorization and prior-approval requests according to managed
care guidelines or other "risk" arrangement.
Reports through electronic and/or other means the disposition of
such request to the requesting physician(s) and/or provider.
Telephones, faxes, or otherwise communicates with insurance
carriers, tracking work in EPIC on a daily basis. Required to
maintain a working knowledge medical terminology and medical
necessity guidelines for procedures in order to obtain
prior-authorization of diagnostic procedures involving primary care
and multi-specialty practices. Serves as liaison between patients,
staff, physicians, hospital departments, and other professionals to
ensure optimal direct patient care and accuracy within the revenue
cycle. Also responsible for Centralized Scheduling, referral
workflows (internal and external) and pre-registration
workflows
Qualifications
Licensure/Certification:
N/A
Experience:
High School graduate/GED with five (5) years of responsible
clinical/administrative experience required. Experience
particularly in scheduling, insurance guidelines, and
pre-authorization in a hospital or physician clinic setting.
Thorough knowledge of registration functions, office procedures,
and excellent organizational skills required. Experience dealing
with public demonstrating excellent customer service skills
required. Experience in patient billing/insurance office to
recognize and analyze billing/charging discrepancies is
preferred.
Associates degree with three (3) year of responsible
clinical/administrative experience required. Experience
particularly in scheduling, insurance guidelines, and
pre-authorization in a hospital or physician clinic setting.
Thorough knowledge of registration functions, office procedures,
and excellent organizational skills required. Experience dealing
with public demonstrating excellent customer service skills
required. Experience in patient billing/insurance office to
recognize and analyze billing/charging discrepancies is
preferred.
Completion of Medical terminology course highly preferred.
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
Basic knowledge of growth and development relevant to the ages of
the patient's Basic knowledge of the diseases and health care needs
of the patient population Ability to think critically and
prioritize multiple tasks and Must pay attention to detail. Ability
to perform efficiently and effectively under Must recognize
importance of privacy and maintain confidentiality at all Excellent

terminology, financial counseling, utilization management
principals and state and federal regulations concerning all Third
Party Demonstrates a high level of organizational skills for
accurate and efficient management of information, varied
responsibilities and job Requires initiative and dependability.
Advanced knowledge of basic computer programs and electronic
medical record navigation Advanced knowledge of office procedures
and equipment (EHR system, telephone etiquette, copier/fax machine,
). Advanced knowledge of appointment scheduling and
insurance/prior-authorization Advanced knowledge of diagnostic
