Job Description:
Foundry Employee Level 2 - MeltingReports To: Foundry Team Lead,
3rd shiftDuties and Responsibilities:
- Adhering to environmental health and safety regulations
- Reading and understanding work instructions
- Completing appropriate paperwork to ensure accuracy and
accountability
- Rigging and operating up to 40,000 pounds with an overhead
crane
- Organizing and staging all pouring supplies, tools, and stands
before pouring
- Preparing all molds/flasks that are scheduled to be poured
- Setting weights according to the prescribed amounts
- Preparing ladles that will be used throughout upcoming pours,
including building KALTEK ladles
- Taking pouring temperatures
- Loading furnaces properly
- Performing general furnace work (slagging furnace, weighing
alloys, patching and repairing the furnace unsupervised)
- Relining furnaces
- Analyzing molding and casting defects to suggest corrective
action
- Promoting good housekeeping
- Inspecting daily to proactively prevent downtime of tools and
equipment
- Inspecting molds (snake-eyes) after weights are set to help
ensure a good casting
- Pouring molds safely
- Operating the crane during pouring
- Creating a furnace charge
- Tapping furnaces
- Using and cleaning ARL Spectro
- Controlling the melting processExperience:
- Overhead Cranes
- Rigging Hardware
- Forklifts
- Blender
- Bobcat LoaderEducation: High school diploma or GEDPhysical
