Pediatrics, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in
Augusta, Georgia is actively seeking a board certified/board
eligible Pediatric Cardiologist to join its faculty at the rank of
Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level. This
position is part-time, and academic rank will be commensurate with
experience. The position will provide clinical care for the
pediatric cardiology patient population in both outpatient and
inpatient clinical settings. Clinical care would include but is not
limited to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of
disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering and interpreting lab
results, developing treatment plans, and patient/family education.
The position will maintain and ensure that relevant patient records
are properly updated, and share weekday, weekend, and holiday
emergent/after-hours call coverage.Comprehensive services are
provided in the 154 bed Children's Hospital of Georgia with the
region's only Level IV NICU. We have a comprehensive group of
pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists serving children and
families from across Georgia and we are a key subspecialty referral
center for the southeast. The Children's Hospital of Georgia is
part of the Augusta University Health System which includes a
478-bed medical center, a Medical Office Building with more than 80
outpatient practice sites in one convenient setting, and a Critical
Care Center housing a 13-county regional trauma center.Successful
candidates will have a proven history of excellent clinical skills,
involvement with clinical research, and strong desire to be
involved with resident and fellow teaching. Additionally,
candidates should have an MD/DO degree and be board
certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. Educational
responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing
mentorship, clinical supervision, and consultation to
residents/fellows/medical students/staff at AU and developing a
more in-depth educational experience for trainees in pediatric
cardiology; providing training to residents/fellows/medical
students/staff at AU/AUMC in pediatric cardiology through
didactics.ResponsibilitiesTeachingProvide advisement, education and
training to fellows, residents, medical students and staff in
pediatrics which includes but is not limited to: clinical
supervision, consultation and didactics. Achieve and maintain
teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean. Attend
50% or more weekly pediatric Grand Rounds presentations and monthly
faculty meetings.Clinical/Patient Care Provide high-quality,
comprehensive care in pediatric cardiology in an effort to improve
quality, safety and patient satisfaction. This position will
provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services and
comprehensive consultation, evaluation, diagnostic and management
services for a wide array of pediatric cardiology patients while
improving quality, safety and patient satisfaction. Position will
build new referral patterns and serve as primary care resource for
cardiology care across referral area; improve access to pediatric
cardiology services; continue and expand outreach initiatives to
allow better access to clinical services across region and state
including outpatient clinics and telehealth. Participate in on-call
duties, which includes nights/weekends/holidays.Required
QualificationsMedical degree from an accredited medical
school/university. Board certified/board eligible in Pediatric
Cardiology. Must have or be eligible for a state of Georgia medical
license; Federal DEA; PALS/CPR certified.Assistant Professor- Early
level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate
trainingAssociate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with
at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable
training, background, and experience.Professor- Senior level career
faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate
Professor or comparable training, background, and
experience.Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG
institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall
be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for
institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties
assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived
for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other
requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the
basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and
recommendations.Preferred QualificationsMust have excellent oral
and written communication, interpersonal and people management
skills.Shift/Salary/BenefitsThis position is fiscal year based and
works year-round. Amount of time worked is based on work
commitment.The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent
(FTE) for this position is between 0.75 and 0.99 FTE. The FTE will
be determined at the time of hire after discussions during the
interview process with the successful candidate. Although this
position is fully benefits eligible and can select from the robust
University System of Georgia (USG) benefits package, this position
is not considered full-time. Only positions at 1.0 FTE are
considered full-time.Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation
is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The
