$36,499/yr.GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to
operate heavy equipment in the operation and maintenance of the
County's facilities and infrastructures. Perform routine inspection
and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects
or needed repairs to the supervisor. Assist staff to perform
maintenance and repair duties as required.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Operate heavy equipment to excavate and compact earth, load and
unload materials, move and haul materials, maintain County
properties, bale materials, and perform other general or
specialized functions of various County Departments. Operate dump
trucks, roll-off trucks, motor graders, bulldozers, front-end
loaders, skid steers, bush hogs, compactors, trailers, grinders,
tractors, low boys, mowers, and balers.Load and unload materials
manual onto various vehicles.Inspect equipment to ensure proper and
safe working conditions, and report defects or required maintenance
to the supervisor.Assist co-workers with various duties as
required. Uses hand and power tools in various tasks as
required.Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of assigned tools
and equipment.Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of

other duties as assigned.Additional duties include:Serve as backup
to scale operator and scale house attendant. Serve as backup office
personnel.Requirements:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to
communicate effectively orally and in writing;Knowledge of the
organization's operations, services, and policies;Knowledge of
local, state, and federal regulations regarding commercial
vehicles;Strong maintenance knowledge;Ability to safely operate
heavy equipment;Physical ability to work in hazardous or inclement
climate;Good customer service skills;Basic mathematical
skills;EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:The educational requirement for
this position is: Completion of high school/GED. Education may not
be substituted for experience.Related-experience required: 2
years.Experience may not be substituted for education.LICENSES,
CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS: Certifications, licenses,
professional designations, or other qualifications required for
this position include: Valid CDL-Class B with Airbrakes and no
restrictions. Must be able to operate straight drive and automatic
