Job Description:

We are offering relocation for our Buyer position at our Greenwood, SC facility.

Position Overview:

The Buyer is responsible for maintaining required inventory levels; monitor and coordinate procurement of needed materials; develop and enhance computerized inventory systems as changing business needs dictate; coordinate the procurement of a large variety of complex materials and services to support plant requirements; develop appropriate product supply sources; review and negotiate purchase price, quality, and all other factors to ensure overall conformance of purchased materials.

In this function you will:

* Maintain and utilize information systems to plan, monitor, and coordinate on-going inventory levels.
* Determine daily inventory control needs relating to the availability of materials for manufacturing.
* Coordinate the phase-in and phase-out of production materials available through plant inventories.
* Dispose of obsolete materials when no longer needed for production inventory.
* Plan and participate in inventory control projects and cost improvement programs to ensure more effective and efficient inventory mgt. Systems.
* Maintains desired inventory objectives.
* Locate and select new and alternate sources of supply to meet production requirements of the plant.
* Establish and maintain effective contacts and relationships with vendors and suppliers.
* Award and administer purchase orders and agreements with established company policies, procedures, and procurement contracts.
* Resolve promptly problems arising with vendors to ensure timely delivery of quality goods and services.
* Plan, coordinate, and conduct quality audits on new and existing vendors to review and document the characteristics of products and materials for current and future procurement contracts.
* Visit and meet with vendors on-site and at company locations to discuss desired product specifications.
* Serve on special committees as assigned by the Purchasing manager, materials Manager, or Plant Manager.
* Perform continuous improvement projects for Supply Chain and Plant.
* Perform other related activities and special projects as assigned.


Required (Basic) Qualifications:

* Associate's degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of purchasing experience OR Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Engineering in lieu of experience.
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
* No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Purchasing/buying experience and Planning Experience
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
* Previous experience in a custom order engineering environment
* SAP or AS400 experience
* Basic knowledge of MRP systems

Position Success Criteria:

* Basic knowledge of computerized inventory systems, scheduling techniques, general manufacturing, and ability to interpret drawings, prints and Microsoft office.
* Experience reporting to leadership and cross functional teams
* Strong analytical, presentation, and customer service skills
