REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, Inventory Management
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To manage inventories (supplies, materials, and products) to ensure
that GIW employees have access to the materials they need and for
customer satisfaction, production need and minimum investment. To
develop, communicate and implement inventory policies and identify
opportunities for inventory operation improvements in accordance
with company objectives and policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SELF-PERFORMED:
Understands GIW products, services, material and inventory
classifications, applications, valuations, and business
transactions from the reception to shipment and obsolescence of
goods.
Remain current with the latest inventory management and material
handling tools, technology, and procedures
Supports SAP IM and WM modules within all aspects of shipping,
receiving and assembly supply areas regarding inventory issues and
discrepancies
Manages customer returns and submits for approval if needed. Track
all customer returns and reports as needed
Submits material requests to purchasing for vendor returns.
Identifies potential areas for inventory discrepancies and reports
to management.
Dispositions excess project stock by monitoring with production
scheduling through the order change management (OCM) process.
Responsible for keeping inventory related work instructions and
reports up to date.
Develops and updates new inventory management policies and
procedures as needed.
Tracks stocking level requests for new install and current install
business.
Works closely with sales engineers to develop forecast as an input
for stocking levels by pump application as needed.
Supports all GIW locations with training regarding continuous
process improvement and inventory management to lead to better
inventory accuracy
Responsible for implementing a stockyard cycle count process and
plan, as well as training on how to conduct.
Responsible for developing and facilitating quarterly work in
process audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries
meeting customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and
transportation charges using the SAP P14 ERP system
Collaborates closely with Grovetown Receiving & Shipping Manager
and conducts bi-weekly inventory cycle counts with Grovetown
Receiving & Shipping Manager, evaluates cycle count results, and
develops action plans to improve inventory accuracy and
communicates those with Grovetown Receiving & Shipping Manager
Initiates programs with Product Management, Engineering, and
Accounting to dispose slow moving inventory by either selling the
product as is, repurposing the product for a different application,
or, as a last resort, writing off the product. Ensures that
Accounting writes off inventory before actually scraping
inventory
Plans, coordinates, and leads the physical inventory count of all
finished, WIP, and raw materials, plus stock at individual
warehouses yearly. In collaboration with Accounting, develops the
counting process along with the required associated paperwork and
owns the execution of the process from start of the physical
counting to the final reconciliation and balancing in the SAP
systems. The responsibility includes to gather, document lessons
learned, and recommend policy changes and staff training.
Demonstrates knowledge on all aspects of SAP directly related to
developing and managing inventory levels.
Prepares presentation documents and assists in presenting findings
to the Inventory Management team.
Travel up to 25% of the time.
Other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITIES:
Access to all information needed to carry out assigned duties.
Approves stock levels in SAP including creating, changing and
removing all stock levels in SAP. Recommends policies and procedure
changes in the shipping and receiving areas of all shipping and
stock locations. Recommends staffing levels for physical inventory
counts.
EDUCATION:
Minimum -Bachelor's degree in Business Management or equivalent
from an accredited four year college; post-bachelor degree such as
an MBA is preferred.
CREDENTIALS:
Apics certification, SAP certification is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum - at least 3 to 5 years of related work history in a
mid-size Supply Chain/Manufacturing department in a high tech,
custom manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of SAP ERP / ECC 6.0 required, particularly MM-IM and
MM-WM / EWM
Strong mathematical skills
Strong understanding of inventory performance on financial
performance
High communicative skills
Strong knowledge of MS tools, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
Visio
