Process Technician Apprentice - Augusta, Georgia, USA

This positions report to the Shift Supervisor.

This position is located in (Augusta, GA) and is not available for remote work. The Process Technician Apprentice's role is to: (1) assist in the production of quality products and services for internal and external customers by complying with ISO-9001 policies and procedures; (2) assist owning and controlling the process unit in which he/she is assigned; (2) be a contributing member of a team that actively provides safe, ethical, and efficient plant operations in accordance with sound management expectations and practices; (3) assist in operating a safe, environmentally effective, quality and continuously improving process operation.

What you will do:

  • Learn the responsibilities for the safe startup, shutdown, and efficient operation of the assigned process unit
  • Must learn and use the "Augusta Does Accident Prevention Together" (ADAPT) and "Job Hazard Analysis" (JHA) process
  • Learn and comply with all policies and standard operating procedures, including ISO-9001 standards
  • Learn and comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Must always work safely using proper safety equipment and PPE
  • Learn to monitors, records, and analyze process data and use the information to optimize the process or identify abnormalities
  • Assist in obtaining samples, performs analytical tasks, and adjusts the process per the data obtained
  • Use acquired skills in vibration analysis, lubrication, thermography, smell, feel, and listening to evaluate the process and equipment operator driven reliability (ODR)
  • Learn how to actively work with maintenance personnel to maximize efficiency including following schedules and having equipment ready for maintenance per schedule
  • Learn how to issue work related permits, communicate process and equipment related information, issues, and hazards to the workers
  • Assist in generating work requests to repair deficiencies in process areas
  • Learn how to write a legible record of operations activities in area logbook
  • Offer suggestions to improve the process
  • Must maintain good continuous communications with shift mates, shift supervisor, other operating areas, support personnel, and other management
  • Responsible for housekeeping
  • Learn and follow all applicable environmental policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local laws
  • Assist in operating the process in an environmentally sound manner and take prompt action to correct and report any environmental excursions
  • Actively participate in plant continuous improvement activities
  • Assist in routinely performing operator assigned maintenance
  • Works to help identify and remove process and equipment bottlenecks
  • Learn and follow applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements when unloading chemicals, or loading and shipping chemicals and products
  • Participates in special projects as assigned
  • Meets established work attendance standard
