a qualified Infection Control RN in Augusta, Georgia, 30912! Job
Title: RN Infection Preventionist Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Infection Prevention Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours

License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN -
Multi-state Compact Certifications: Certification in Infection
Control within 2 years preferred. Must-Have: Strong verbal and
written communication skills. Excellent teamwork and
relationship-building abilities. Demonstrated knowledge of basic
principles of epidemiology, surveillance, data collection, and
analysis. Knowledge of infection prevention guidelines, OSHA,
regulatory requirements, and CDC guidelines is essential. Personal
time management skills are required. Description: The RN Infection
Preventionist is a registered professional nurse who functions
under the direction of the Infection Prevention Manager.
Responsibilities include hospital surveillance to identify
healthcare-related infections and ensure public reporting for
mandated healthcare-associated infections. The IP assists with the
development of policies and procedures. Education of patients and
team members is a vital part of the role. The RN routinely audits
and makes physical rounds to monitor infection prevention practices
including construction, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
Key responsibilities include conducting surveillance for
healthcare-associated infections and epidemiologically significant
organisms as specified in the Infection Prevention Plan.
Utilization of current definitions and data collection is critical.
The RN accurately inputs data and runs validation reports.
Participation in internal and external validation of data is
required. Confirmation and investigation of potential clusters and
outbreaks are essential tasks. The RN participates in environment
of care rounds and oversees infection prevention-related corrective
actions. The position facilitates activities to ensure compliance
with hand hygiene and isolation requirements. Maintaining
confidentiality and HIPAA compliance is paramount. The RN maintains
accurate surveillance records and enters data into repositories.
Reporting diseases to local and state public health authorities as
required by law is essential. The RN submits internal and external
data according to established deadlines. Analysis of information to
develop knowledge for appropriate dissemination is expected. The RN
develops and delivers staff education programs. Providing patient
and family education on infection prevention practices as requested
by clinical caregivers is part of the role. Orientation for new
hospital team members in infection prevention is required.
Collaboration with management to review and implement system
policies and procedures is necessary. The RN utilizes available
resources to respond to organizational questions and needs.
Regulatory and accreditation compliance must be maintained.
Collaboration with employee health regarding healthcare worker
exposure and illness prevention is required. The RN assists in
annual risk assessment, goal development, and surveillance plan
evaluation. Contribution to the evaluation of new products is
